The reason the seashell looks like it's 'floating' is because it's laying on top of a mirror. I also sprinkled some sand on top of the mirror, some of which got blurred because of the dof and created a 'cloudy' sort of effect. Finally, I placed a painting at an angle so that it was tilted downwards toward the mirror and showed up in the reflection. Oh, and the color is due to a magenta filter that I fiddled around with in PS CS.
