In setting up this photo, I took the little plastic heart (used previously in my "Heart Strings" series) and froze inside of an ice cube. I positioned the ice cube on its side atop of some aluminum foil. Then, I positioned a lamp directly above the ice cube close to where the heart was located so that the ice would start to melt around one side of the heart.
I also decided to do some experimenting with new editing techniques to bring out the detail in the ice cube and to create a more stylized & dramatic effect.
I'm actually quite pleased with how it all turned out.
